Narooma SLSC: Community unites for club makeover

On the far south coast of New South Wales lies the scenic and hilly town of Narooma. Narooma Surf Life Saving Club overlooks the 750 metre stretch of beach running from Wagonga Heads to a rocky headland that sweeps out to sea. A creek that runs into Little Lake curls around the south side of the surf club.

Narooma Surf Club is a double storey red brick building. We supplied paint for the railings and trimmings to help protect these surfaces from damage from the harsh weather that blows in off the Tasman Sea. The natural beauty surrounding the club is reflected in the new colour scheme. The club choose to paint over the white balcony railing in a soft taupe colour, which echoes the colour of the sand and modernises the building.

The re-paint was a real community effort; the club members undertook the repaint in conjunction with a Work for the Dole program.
