The Surf Club Project

Nippers: The Surf Lifesavers of Tomorrow

Across the many beaches of Australia, there are over 60,000 kids learning about the beach while having fun. These young kids are ‘nippers’, and they’re the future of surf life saving. The nippers program is open to all kids between the ages of 5-13 years old and it is run by surf life saving clubs Australia-wide.

While learning how to spot a rip and read the beach, the nippers program is also about kids having fun with their friends and building self-confidence. Dolphin diving, body boarding, beach sprints and swimming are all skills developed by nippers.

Almost 40% of surf life saving club members are nippers. Nippers may be young, but they’re an incredibly important part of the surf life saving communities around Australia. They will keep us safe at the beach long into the future.

Dulux is proud to support these surf clubs who are nurturing the next generation of life savers.
